Meet the hatmaker

At the heart of every hat is a story—and for Alanah Hope, that story is woven from faith, resilience, and the enduring bond between a mother and daughter. Alanah turned personal tragedy into a calling, transforming grief into beauty one handcrafted hat at a time.

Born and raised in Texas, Alanah grew up an athlete with an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep appreciation for creativity. Owner of a successful volleyball club she has built and led since 2015, and while proud of what she has built, Alanah's prayer for years was for God to show her something that was creative and artistic that she would find a long-lasting passion for.

Four months before her mother’s tragic accident, that prayer was answered as Alanah walked past a small hat shop in Texas. Stopped in her tracks and completely mesmerized, she grabbed her husband’s arm and said, “This is it.” The very next day, she excitedly shared that moment with her mom over dinner—who had been praying alongside her—unaware it would be the last dinner they would ever share.

In the quiet and grief, Alanah began teaching herself how to make fur felt hats of the highest quality—entirely by hand. This craft brought light and purpose into her darkest season; staying busy creating is where she feels closest to her mom, who was an incredible artist herself.

Today, each custom hat is more than an accessory; it is a deeply personal keepsake. Each hat is a tribute to her mother’s creative spirit, a way to honor her legacy by crafting beauty from sorrow. Every piece she creates is a labor of love, meticulously shaped by hand in her studio using only the finest heirloom-quality materials.

Alanah specializes in bespoke felt and straw hats, custom-made to reflect your individuality—because she believes fashion should be as personal and meaningful as the stories we carry. Alanah feels grateful to have found a craft she loves so deeply. It is her joy and honor to learn each client’s story and help create their newest heirloom—one that carries beauty, memory, and meaning for years to come.

with the work of her hands she plants a vineyard."
