Fur felt hatmaking is one of the oldest surviving crafts, and remarkably, the process has changed very little over the centuries. Long before machines and factories, skilled hatters were hand–shaping felted fur into durable, weather-resistant hats—using steam, pressure, and patience. These same age-old techniques are still at the heart of every quality hat made today.
 

The art of felting—turning loose animal fibers into a dense, strong fabric—dates back thousands of years, and by the 16th and 17th centuries, fur felt hats had become a symbol of style, status, and practicality across Europe and the Americas. Famous explorers, pioneers, and working cowboys all relied on fur felt for its unmatched ability to protect against the elements while holding its shape.
 

Though some tools have evolved and materials may be finer, the essence of the craft remains unchanged. Each handmade hat represents hours and hours of labor over the course of many days.
